Description

Jason Gans brings a quiet strength and imaginative spirit to his work as an art therapist. With a background in animation and a deep love for puppetry, comics, and drawing, Jason invites clients of all ages to explore their inner world through creativity and play.

Originally from Philadelphia, Jason studied animation at Pratt Institute in New York City before moving to Austin, where he taught middle school art from 2007 to 2010. His passion for connection and healing led him to pursue a Master’s in Art Therapy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Since returning to Austin in 2015, Jason provided group art therapy at Shoal Creek Hospital, where he’s known for crafting unique therapeutic directives using comic book formats—making the art-making process accessible, meaningful, and even fun for patients at all levels. Now, Jason sees clients at Community Arts where he is nurturing clients of all ages through their healing process.

Jason’s personal art practice is deeply rooted in mindfulness and emotional resilience. Through social media and community projects, he shares tools for healthy communication and coping skills, blending artistic expression with practical support.

With a thoughtful presence and a gentle masculine energy, Jason creates a safe and creative space where healing can unfold—one drawing, story, or puppet at a time.
